Okay, if you have an Indian, who is Muslim, wouldn't they just be considered as Pakistani? I mean, in Pakistan, they speak Urdu, which is the same as Hindi, which is widely spoken in India. And Pakistan is prominently a Muslim country. They do wear similar clothes in Pakistan as in India. So wouldn't an Indian Muslim just be concidered Pakistani? India IS the birthplace of Hinduism. And only about 800,000,000 people in India are Hindu. And Nepal is ALL Hindu and Buddist (which that religion also came from India), and it's not even the birthplace of Hinduism.

I have a friend who is a tamilian hindu getting married to a marathi guy. Her wedding is fixed and is going to take place at the earliest but some issues & doubts regarding the following. So, I would like to know the following. Could anyone help on this

1. what are those things which the bride should compulsorily buy for the groom and what are the things to be bought by the groom for the bride as per marathi custom

2. Who should spend for the wedding the brides or the grooms

3. Most importantly Who should buy the wedding saree for the bride the groom side or The Mother Of The Bride

4. Also briefly explain the customs to be followed?

I'm going to a Hindu/Indian wedding next month and I have a saree to wear, but I'm not sure on the shoes. Should I wear flats, sandals, low heal, high heal... Any ideas???

My husband promised me he wont smoke & drink .If he somke & drink then he wear female dress.but one day I caught him smoking & drinking in a party .I warned him he wear my female dress .What accessories / make up / jewellry should i make him wear to give him the appearance of a newly wed pretty hindu wife?suggest me ................

I love the Indian culture, from the music and films down to the dress. Is it considered disrespectful to wear a Saree and a bindi even though I'm neither Hindu or from India?

I recently converted to Hinduism and I would like to buy a saree because I think they are beautiful and it would make me feel like a real Hindu. I'm sure clothing doesn't matter when you're doing Puja (worshipping) but I would still like one. I know where to buy bangles and bindis but I haven't had any luck in finding a store (either online or in my state) that sells sarees. Thanks everyone! Namaste!

By any yard stick a women wearing a Saree with a Bindi on her face looks beautiful, decent and even sexy too. But in the entire USA not even a single Indian woman wears a Saree to work or any where else. They wear only pants and trousers. They don't know in such dresses every single Indian woman whether she is a Hindu, Muslim or Christian look horrible and disgusting. It is an admitted fact the every single American Woman loves Indian clothes because of their vivid colors, designs and patterns. But they don't know how and where to buy them in the first place and also don't know how to wear them. If the women from South Asia especially from India start wearing Sarees and other Indian dresses to their work and when going out trust me you will see even hollywood celebrities in Sarees. But the zillion dollar question is who is going to educate our women? I am unsuccessful in convincing even my wife also in this aspect.

I know that there are many ways to wear a saree/sari and that the way you wear it shows where you are from, Does anyone know the correct way for a hindu punjabi girl to wear her saree?
My family usually only wears them for special occassion but I was just wondering if the way I wear it is correct
