does anyone know of a good website where i can get a saree, choli, and petticoat that all match?
I have a dark purple saree with gold lining. i've been looking on the internet for dark purple petticoat or maybe in the middle of dark and light purple, but all i can find is a really ugly light purple which does not go AT-ALL! I dont know which other color to put with dark purple. which color suites me best. i'm african american with extremly dark brown hair( alomost black)
I am an Englishman and I often wear sarees, salwar kameez and lenghas at home. I have a large collection of dresses, but mainly sarees along with blouses and petticoats.
I find sarees very comfortable to wear, no matter how warm or cold it is and no matter the type of cloth it is made of, chiffon, silk etc. I normally have the pallu pinned to my left shoulder, but sometimes let it slip off instead. I love the way the pleats are kicked out in front of me when I walk and the way it covers my whole body, very sensual to wear. I do not wear bra under blouse and also no undergarments are worn under petticoat. I have been wearing sarees now for number of years, do not understand why I read that Indian women find them uncomfortable to wear even on a daily basis, I certainly don't feel that way when I am wearing a saree.
Ok, background Info: I have a friend whose family is from India and she is getting married in the fall. Her family is throwing an Indian/American mixed ceremony. I have an outfit for the American ceremony, but nothing for the Indian ceremony. She mentioned that she would really, really like it if we (her friends) were able to come in traditional Indian garb for the Indian ceremony. The only problem is, there isn't really a good place to go in Baltimore to find clothes like that.
But: I am going to be in Singapore over the summer doing research and I know there is a thriving Indian community there. So my question is; does anyone know a good place (how to find a good place) to get a saree in Singapore? I don't want some tourist trap place that will sell a poor quality saree for a super high price. I'm looking for a place where I can get a saree that is good quality and very nice, while still being modest and simple (I'm not trying to compete with the bride, you know?). I have a month in Singapore (mid June to mid July), in which to get it, so I have time to get a tailored blouse (I've read that's what you should get, not a ready made one- since it may not fit right). Also, what else do I need to wear one properly? Do I need a Slip or Petticoat, since it's a skirt? Help would be much appreciated!!
Hello, I'm going to buy my first saree for prom online. Problem is, there's these options you can have done to the saree that just confuse me. For example, what's a ready-made saree, the difference between a stitched and non-stitched Phall and blouse, where to measure on your body for the petticoat if you want your stomach to show and youre 5 foot 9 inches. Also, does any of theese options affect how you wear it? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I dont want to throw 0 away.
I have several sarees, all of which a not the least bit shear, and have found that whether or not I wear the petticoat makes no difference. All websites will say that one must wear the petticoat, unless one is wearing a nine-yard saree, but if no one can see through the layers of fabric anyway, does it matter?
I just tie the saree around myself, which provides the waistband for tucking in the pleats.
where can I download free pics of beautiful women in saree, petticoat and blouse, slips and halfslips with bra. Any web sites dedicated to this matter?
