I am somewhat decent with my Pakistani and Indian clothing terms, but I saw a wonderful style of pant, and I need help with finding the name so I can better search for them on the net...I've only ever seen them called "bell bottoms" in stores and online. These pants were worn all the time by Puro in the Hindi movie "PINJAR"

They are basically a normal pant, but at the KNEE, they bell out through the use of gathers, attatching a second piece of fabric at the knee, and the bells look exactly like a skirt. They give a wonderful flowing movement while walking. They differ from the 1960's/Vintage bell bottoms, since these "skirts" are added on to a regular trouser leg, RIGHT above the KNEE, some other styles have the gathers higher or lower, but I do not like that shape/cut.

I hope someone knows what I am talking about...Do they have a specific name? Like salwar, churidars, etc....are they correctly called "Farshi Pajama"?? The illustration /description just shows them MUCH longer...
I found another name for them " Farshi Gharara" but they STILL are too long, and trail on the floor....sigh.....

These are the pants as sold on ebay, BUT the gathers are above the knee, and not where I'd prefer they'd be, but I can assume they'd be called the same thing in whatever culture they originated...They are imprted from India, but the seller describes them as Boho flared pants, so that gets me no where as far as finding more...

I am Polish marrying into an Indian family. We are both christian so I will wear a white dress to church and a red lehenga for the reception. For the bridesmaids i would like to have lehengas. Can i change the shape of the top or skirt? Or do they come already made and I just chose the style I want? What color would be nice if 5 of my BM are polish and one is indian?? I was thinking along the copper/orange color...maybe something else? Any websites with ideas for bridesmaids? It seems like all the sites are for bridal styles. We are making a short film,kind of home production.We are a group of 4 girls & 1 guy.The story has 4 male characters and 1 female character.My freind suggested that in that case let the guy play the female role and we girls wd play the 4 guy roles.
Is this a good idea?
If yes,shd he wear regular day clothes like skirt or salvar kamez or jeans...or shd we go all out and dress him real girlie in a saree or in a frilly dress with jew and make up?

I am from a traditional Indian family and went abroad after marriage. In the new location, my husband asked me to wear either Skirt and blouse or shirt and trousers to align with the local culture. I was quite embarassed as I was not used to such outfits. and with my structure of 38-26-40 such outfits make it very embarassing and provoking. I tried to tell the same to my husband but he didnt listen. As it was only a few days after the marriage I had to follow what he said. I prefered Skirts and blouses instead of pants and shirts.
Very soon he took me to a party, and asked me to join in dance. When I hesitated, without asking again he went dancing and disappeared in the crowd. One of his friends came to me and started conversation and forced me to dance with him. while the time passes he came close and stared touching my waist and below. As the music went loud and lights dimmed, he took more advantage by hugging me with his hands on my bum. He kept beating and pressing my butts as per music. I was surprised and tried to move away. He held me close, squeezed my butts tight and lifted me up. He positioned me straddle his waist irrespective of my violent resistance and moved his hands under my butts. Ok, background Info: I have a friend whose family is from India and she is getting married in the fall. Her family is throwing an Indian/American mixed ceremony. I have an outfit for the American ceremony, but nothing for the Indian ceremony. She mentioned that she would really, really like it if we (her friends) were able to come in traditional Indian garb for the Indian ceremony. The only problem is, there isn't really a good place to go in Baltimore to find clothes like that.
But: I am going to be in Singapore over the summer doing research and I know there is a thriving Indian community there. So my question is; does anyone know a good place (how to find a good place) to get a saree in Singapore? I don't want some tourist trap place that will sell a poor quality saree for a super high price. I'm looking for a place where I can get a saree that is good quality and very nice, while still being modest and simple (I'm not trying to compete with the bride, you know?). I have a month in Singapore (mid June to mid July), in which to get it, so I have time to get a tailored blouse (I've read that's what you should get, not a ready made one- since it may not fit right). Also, what else do I need to wear one properly? Do I need a Slip or Petticoat, since it's a skirt? Help would be much appreciated!!

I am figuring a woman would just lift up the skirt part and hold it, but I was wondering if there were any special tricks or tips that anyone knows.
