I'm going to India this August for my friends' wedding. I'm so excited but have no idea what to wear! My friend suggests that I wear traditional Indian attire, but I don't know if I should go with a saree (it's got a skirt, midriff-bearing top and sort of a sash that goes over the shoulder) or salwar kameez (sort of a pantsuit with a fancy long tunic-type top and pants). I've recently found out that my great grandparents on my mothers' side of the family came from Bombay (now Mumbai) India, therefore I would like to learn more about the culture there. I'm having a really strong urge to visit there to see where they really came from but I don't think I'm quite ready for that. My sister is looking to wear a nice saree with a some embrodiery on it for my Uncles wedding.
She has been trying to find some nice ones , preferably with a nice border print but they seem to be ridiculously expensive even for simple ones (£219!!) It would be great if someone could tell me a few shop names in London were I could get a decent priced one for my sister because she really wants one and she looks lovely but we arent rich so I would like to find some bargains ...

I wouldnt mind if it was unstitched but our budget is about 40-60 pounds not to heavily embroided just a shop which has a good range and choice

I have a friend who is a tamilian hindu getting married to a marathi guy. Her wedding is fixed and is going to take place at the earliest but some issues & doubts regarding the following. So, I would like to know the following. Could anyone help on this

1. what are those things which the bride should compulsorily buy for the groom and what are the things to be bought by the groom for the bride as per marathi custom

2. Who should spend for the wedding the brides or the grooms

How many days does a marathi wedding take place

I am Polish marrying into an Indian family. We are both christian so I will wear a white dress to church and a red lehenga for the reception. For the bridesmaids i would like to have lehengas. Can i change the shape of the top or skirt? Or do they come already made and I just chose the style I want? What color would be nice if 5 of my BM are polish and one is indian?? I was thinking along the copper/orange color...maybe something else? Any websites with ideas for bridesmaids? It seems like all the sites are for bridal styles.
